Typhoon-Hit SSS Pensioners Urged to Avail Advance Pensions
The Philippines has recently faced a series of devastating tropical cyclones – Kristine, Marce, Nika, Ofel, and Pepito, that swept through the country in less than a month.
These powerful storms have left widespread destruction, particularly in Luzon, creating immense challenges for vulnerable populations, especially pensioners.
In response to the widespread damage, the Social Security System (SSS) has introduced a critical financial assistance program.
Pensioners in calamity-stricken areas can now receive a three-month advance on their regular pension to help them recover and rebuild.
Eligibility and Application
Pensioners can access this assistance if they meet two key requirements:
- Reside in areas officially declared under a state of calamity
- Have no existing pension loan
The calamity declaration covers numerous locations, including provinces like Pangasinan, Isabela, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon, along with cities such as Dagupan, Naga City, and Quezon City, and multiple municipalities in Oriental and Occidental Mindoro.
How to Apply
To apply, pensioners must:
